Founded in 1949, Odessa Memorial's Hospital Auxiliary members have been staunch supporters of the hospital.  They have contributed untold man hours, energy and freely given of their own resources to make this organization a success.  We thank them for this!

Auxiliary meetings are held January through May and September through November on the 4^th Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center’s Guild Room. We provide support for all patient care departments of the Healthcare Center, including Physical Therapy, nursing; clinic, Emergency Room, social services, activities, EMS/EMT (ambulance and its personnel), Quail Court, and all other patient care departments of the Center. 

There are two types of members: Sustaining and Active.

Sustaining members pay $10.00 yearly dues per person. Sustaining members are not obligated to meetings or sponsored events. The sustaining member’s dues are designated for medical scholarships. These scholarships are available to qualifying Odessa High School graduates attending an accredited medical field program. The Odessa School Senior Advisor has applications for this scholarship.

Active members pay $2.00 yearly dues per person. These members are expected to attend monthly meetings and assist at the fundraising events.

Fund Raising Activities

Proceeds from these are used to purchase items to enhance resident and patient care, making life more comfortable and enjoyable. Most recent purchases include: a lift chair for the long term care living room and a recumbent exercise bike for the physical therapy department.

Gift Cases

Gift cases are located at The Hair Haus, Odessa Clinic, and the Quail Court Assisted Living facility. Handmade baby afghans, sweaters, caps, and booties, knit dish clothes, and crocheted tab top hand towels are just a few of the items offered for sale. A new gift case is being constructed for the hospital lobby.

The Auxiliary always appreciates donations of handmade items for the gift cases. Please contact Laura Estes for drop off arrangements.

Cookbooks

The Auxiliary has two cookbooks for sale. These are available at all the gift case sites, plus the Odessa Drug, The Quilt Crossing, and Rocky Coulee Brewery. Unser Taglich Brot features a century of German recipes. Staff of Life IV features popular recipes from today’s community.

The Auxiliary is collecting recipes, both German origin and today’s cooking, for future cookbooks. A section is planned for sugar free, low salt, and low fat recipes, as well as a section of kid’s recipes.
