Facts

The district was initially formed in 1947, and was followed by the original construction of the facility in 1948. In 1963 there was a hospital addition of 21 acute care beds, and in 1965 the long term care unit was also added on. The district became certified for Medicare swing beds in 1984 and in 1987 the district assumed management of clinic and employment staff. Odessa Memorial was designated the sole community hospital in 1991, and had basic 911 emergency services and the Rural Health Clinic. In the next few years, Odessa Memorial became equipped with a roof-top heliport and established a designated Level V trauma center. In 1997 the district began management of a community ambulance service, and in 1998 telemedicine and teleradiology became accessible. Our 12 unit assisted living facility, Quail Court, was also built that year. The physical therapy department, long term care unit, dining room, and the activities department were remodeled in 1999 along with other various interior and exterior modifications. Our most recent innovation has been the infrastructure enhancements made to our almost 60-year-old facility, which has allowed numerous improvements to our facility.
