Odessa is a small, agriculture
based community nestled in beautiful semi-arid Eastern Washington. It is
approximately 70 miles from Spokane and 45 miles from Moses Lake. Odessa
offers a warm, friendly, small-town ambience to it's 1,000 residents.

Recycling bins are available as
well as home pick up for garbage. A "Tiger Pride" community clean up day
is sponsored in conjunction with the school district every year. Mail is
delivered on rural routes or is picked up at the post office with box delivery.
A swimming complex, several baseball and softball fields, a football field,
lighted tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball park and horseshoe pits are
used seasonally. A park, children's park and visitor's center are operated
by the Town of Odessa.
The
Odessa School district #105 offers preschool through high school education,
with many extra-curricular activities and sports
programs. Small classes
are taught by professional teachers and staff. Most students attend trade
schools, colleges or universities after graduation.
Several restaurants offer a variety
of food choices. The
Odessa Drive Inn features
delicious fast food such as the famous Tiger burger, chicken strips, sandwiches
with fries or salad, coke products and special shakes; banana, root beer, black
raspberry to name a
few...Yum! The
Crab Creek Coffee Haus
features the usual espresso stand fare
plus scrumptious sandwiches, wraps, soups and pies.
The Chief Restaurant
opened in downtown Odessa and not only has a big screen television for viewing
those great sporting events, by also holds a liquor license.
Voise's Sausage by Schumacher sells German sausage treats, jerky and other
meats (mail order welcome). We also have our own locally owned
micro-brewery Rocky Coulee

Fun and excitement abound!
Our famous Deutschesfest
is held the 3rd weekend in September every year. This four day event
includes yard sales, 5K and 10K fun runs, parade, 3X3 basketball, food booths
featuring German food, bands, craft fairs, and excitement at the "Biergarten."
Plus, Odessa has two smaller festivals that occur -
Spring Fling
and Christmas Fest.
You can also "hit it off" at
Odessa's beautiful 9 hole
golf course. It
features a cozy clubhouse and RV park with 20 full hook-ups. You can reel
in some fine catches at several local lakes that also offer hiking and other
outdoor fun such as camping and barbecuing. For fitness buffs, the Crab
Creek Trail is a walking path that traverses from one end of town to the other
with beautiful desert scenery all the way.
Need stuff? Odessa offers a
grocery store with video rentals, a drug store with a pharmacy and liquor store,
hardware store, auto parts store, farm implement and parts dealers and many
other professional services; insurance, legal, accounting. We also have
Quilt Crossing,
a fantastic store for all you quilters. This is a great meeting place for
our local quilt club members who also provide classes to young and old,
beginners and all other quilters.
If what we've got isn't all that
you need, Moses Lake, and industrial and commercially growing city, is the
closest city being only 45 minutes away. A Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Staples,
Big 5 Sporting Goods, Gottchalk's, popular chain restaurants, fast food places,
and 6-screen movie theatre are located there, only a "hop, skip and jump" away.
Washington State does not have a
state income tax. Odessa property taxes are low. Both the school and
public hospital districts ask for special levy monies, which historically are
approved. For example on a $90,000 house the yearly taxes are
approximately $900. A sewer system installed in 2000 requires monthly
payments with a hook up charge for each household.
The Region
Enjoy the quiet, relaxed lifestyle
in this primarily farming and retirement community. Odessa prides itself
on making the community perfect for everyone. Beautiful homes are
favorably priced compared to those of larger cities, such as Seattle or Spokane.
There is entertainment year-round. Hunting is a favorite pastime of many
living here, with deer, geese, duck and pheasant hunting abounding. There
is a local trap shooting range and club with competitors qualifying at state and
national levels.
Know for the Channeled Scablands,
Grand Coulee Dam, beautiful sunsets and lost of recreation, Eastern Washington
is the perfect place to live and explore. Whether it is a day on the lake
or a drive through the beautiful countryside, your journey will always be an
adventure. If you want to return to that big city life for a while,
Spokane is only 72 miles to the East (about 1.5 hours) and Seattle is 225 miles
West (about 4 hours). In addition, there are the Tri-Cities to the South
(approximately 1.5 hours) as well as Moses Lake and Wenatchee to the West, 45
minutes and 1.5 hours, respectively.
